Family Road Trip to Texas: "Stopping by the Waugh St. Bridge in Austin, Texas"

 This is an account from 2012 (approximately), the first time I visited the Waugh street bridge was with my parents on our way to Austin for my a family wedding. Needless to say, the experience was long, but necessary. We drove for about 2 days, and spent about a week in the states overall. We left Canada from the border of Buffalo,  New York. We were travelling with a family car, sedan. nothing breath-taking, but quite relaxing and comfortable for the kind of drive we were doing. Nearly a decade later, my family (now including my wife) returned, only this time we were arriving in Austin to visit my Uncle and Aunt after the birth of their first son (figure 1and 2). This was my wife's first time visitng the United States. A fever of 103.5 Fahrenheit, what do you do; you are in china, fairly alone, feel like you can overcome it but start to get kind of worries because it has been getting worse? Last night I took my chances and made my first and hopefully last visit to the emergency room here in jinshitan, it is on the barbecue street just around the corner from Suzan's. I had this angelic and incredibly sweet nurse Lushun who took right good care of me, she help me get everything I needed and got me comfortably hooked up to the healing process. I still don't fully understand what I have, probably the flu, and I still don't know what was in the iv or shots I got, meh, next day I am in my own bed and bl feeling a but better, granted I felt a bit better the first time I got this fever and took a rest :s Stupid sickness screwed up my last get together with my girlfriend before she leaves for Florida today, she was having none of it, she said I wasn't allowed to cook with such a high fever las...

Five Countries, Four Weeks Pt.9 "Ho Chi Minh-Nha Trang"

In Vietnam now, able to rest, yet we don’t. This lifestyle is becoming all too familiar in the best kind of way. Ho Chi Minh was talked down pretty consistently by travellers but really it seemed like a place that just needed folks to be a little more realistic when travelling there. No, Ho Chi Minh was not the average crazy little town with obscene hustle and bustle on each street corner but there were the places to go for a good time, historical sights and just right calming parts of town that you really couldn’t find anywhere else because of how unique small aspects of things are in Vietnam. We stayed at a place called the “Hideout” it was a last minute discovery and the only decent looking hostel with a great location. There is a lot of history to take in but certainly still interested in seeing Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi.
