First Time Travelling Through Asia On My Own (2014)
This first trip takes place in Hong Kong.
I booked 6 different hotels in Hong Kong, 3 different areas, 1 of which is close to my travel buddy as well as a fellow teacher who is meeting with us once we get there.
We are all Maple Leaf International School teachers, my travel buddy and I have never been to Hong Kong, but the other teacher has been, lived there for awhile. He knows the ropes and would be glad to show us around.
We were supposed to stay the night at his place here in Dalian the night before before the flight but it was cutting the time too close to the end of work, he was flying out that night and was going to let us stay there to save time and money.
Plans fell through but we made do, I got to see my lady that for that much longer before taking the trip, and we were able to have some fresh fruit and water as well as a goodnight of rest.
Shout Out: Have a safe flight Chica, and safe travels to all my friends! Wish you all the best, and see you on the otherside.
Packing for a trip like this was not as hard to do as it was conflicting on what to bring. A lot of people were saying that Hong Kong is a party area. I was not sure how much of that I could do on a budget trip so I packed more practical than luxuriously, a good test run for future trips I think :)
Realized I didn't need to bring my laptop, darn, could have packed other stuff, especially since they didn't even check the carry-on luggage weight.
Thanks little brother and sister for showing me how to pack more in less room by the way, my clothes will be so wrinkled but you guys made it so much easier for me to pack :)
At the airport here it is very similar to home, mcdonalds was a saving grace for coffee! Might be the last time or so that I have it in this trip. We are flying on a medium size airplane, lacking the luxury on most airplanes back home and on Japan Airlines but then again this is a shorter flight and within the same country. Three people to a row but, well ya I guess it is the same size planes as Westjet and Air Canada, only wider.
I wonder if there are snacks and drinks in this plane?
Say, as I am walking through the terminal here, there are some other Caucasians on the flight and in the airport, I'm starting to see that a lot of people vacation out here.
I talked to a couple other teachers flying to Yunnan here in china, more southeast, talked with them at McDonald's, sounds like I'll have a lot of things to see and places to visit while I am here in china.
Hope the inflight movie is not all in Chinese.
Flying for layover in Ningbo, then heading to Shenzhen.
Having fritz hold onto a copy of my passport and visa, just in case of emergency. I'm sure I have nothing to worry about and I am totally over planning and thinking but you know what, rather be safe than sorry.
Thoughts going through my head, "Gan-Bei."
Love you all, thanks for reading
