Playing COD:m(obile) on the PC

Hey folks, This post is for the die hard gamers and techie try-hards. Granted COD is something folks can access on the computer and play via internet, but sometimes it is a pain to thinking about continuity between gameplay. Whether it be in controls or equipment within the game, people like having things the same. When people are on the go-on the metro, in a lobby or waiting in the back of a cab, sometimes a game of COD is a form of passing time. Mobile integration of first person live shooters in an arena battle royale as introduced by Player Unknown: Battlegrounds, revolutionized mobile gaming. COD gameplay on mobile devices has changed a lot for the mobile gaming industry by making it inclusive a much wider audience. Needless to say, it certainly caught my attention. I found myself gaming it a fair bit through the previous summer after a number of extremely satisfying rounds. I found the things that made a player successful in the game were screen size, finger dexterity and map

News Sites in English for Folks in Dalian, LN China (PRC)

Here are a couple news sites (internet based-rather than the wechat based Chinawire; HiDalian; Dalianlaowei; and Jobtube Daily). These are some alright and low quality looking sites, but provide news on what roughly happening in a timely manner. Expat access to local news is limited unless you understand spoken Chinese fluently and/or read fluent chinese. Here are the sites, worth reaching out to for expats who are interested in how the news is formed or where the opportunities are to be apart of the news development in these organizations. http://english.runsky.com/ https://www.dnaindia.com/topic/dalian

iCloud Unlock

Found your old iDevice but forgot your password? Someone changed it on you? No worries, been there and unfortunately unsuccessful in getting the password back in all cases, but was able to get it unlocked when taking it to the apple store with proper registration. But right now for my iPad Air (over 5 years old), I want to unlock it but its hooked up to my old roommate's iCloud ID, unfortunately we are not in contact and I don't know where to begin looking for him. What to do? Well, today we are going to checkout out which websites actually were able to iCloud Unlock the device and which are just scams. The ones that worked...none. The ones that are basically just scams and can't even refund you all your money when you call them out on their BS ads, because of service charges by the credit card/currency exchange-ALL Never try to unlock iCloud using online servers, they basically just try their very best to hack the old account holder. There was a time when false ser

Inquiry on Laser Tag in Shanghai

Image
UPDATED: I haven't returned to Shanghai, (been a couple times) but I believe the last time was when I was looking for the laser tag. I have since found laser tag AND airsoft in various other places. As I am sure Shanghai offers laser tag, there have been some really cool modified gun play and laser tag equipment used in Haizhu District (Guangzhou) where in which there are actual player scan cards that give player's guns particular attributes and home base modems that are apart of "seek and destroy" Foshan (GuangDong Province) is home to a very professional and yet amateur club of "War Games", in which there are varying levels of gameplay and equipment. With the alleged ban on airsoft guns, these venues have been thinking about how to adapt their services. People with the equipment are still very much interested in playing but the times are rough here in 2021 with regards to people to play with/places to play.  The future of "War Games" in China is

Travel to HONG KONG Sept-Aug 2019-2020

Well, here I thought this thread was done for after having a son, or at least taking a turn towards travelling parents rather than nomad thrill seekers. I got up this morning, worked on some French and was surprised to get an email from our superintendent of the school I work at. The email basically talks about Canadians being warned about travel to Hong Kong-and returning to China. I mean, to be Canadian in Hong Kong is no problem but if you are working in the mainland, be aware, it will not be fun getting back. With the political unrest in Hong Kong at this time, the borders are tight...to say the least. Here is the memo sent to our company today, "Canadian citizens working or travelling in China, Please be aware that Canadian travellers to Hong Kong will likely experience a heightened screening by customs officers due to the tension in Hong Kong.  Be reminded that your stay in China will be a wonderful experience if you comply with the rules and regulations expected

24-Hours Before your Flight to China

NOTE: This is a literally published the year before COVID changed travel around the world. How nice it was that one of the main things we wanted to ensure we had before heading out the door was deodorant hahaha It is available in China but it isn't cheap.  __________________________________________________________________________________ Here you are-on you way. A new adventure beginning, China. 24 hours to go, let's quickly check everything we absolutely MUST HAVE: Passport, money, clothes. Yep, all that is literally on my person during that list run-through. Really, everything else from here on, is "needed" for whatever personal/hygiene/preference reasons, but whatever lets do another list run through: -Advil/Tylenol -Feminine Products -Deodorant -Cellphone (unlocked for international use) -Suitcase -Backpack -Appropriate clothing based on purpose of travel Really everything else from here on, not really things that are impossible to find in China. Teaching Moments in Someone Else's Class that go a Long way.

Teaching for a coworker who was away today, wasn't really looking to get too into conversations, was looking to really just "sub" to the best of my ability. However, inquiring with a student about an article they were writing about a music group that was going to be in the city we live/work in, I was introduced to a student in the class, across from them with an extensive array of music in China that is around my taste and fine flavour (punk, metal, ska, etc.). Needless to say, I have been spending the better part of my day getting as deeply rooted into each of their "named genres" as possible in hopes of finding a live event to attend at some point before leaving China, here is to hoping. If you are interested here is a list of what I was given, and a link to the current "waiting" list on youtube I have them in before actually listening to them and categorizing them accordingly. For the "Sons" (SOJ Pikou 2019)

Alright SOJ! It's that time of the year! There are some things we need to accomplish and a lot of things we need to avoid. Seeing as how a "perfect" year patch was thrown out of the window once Spenny decided to get hit by a car (yep literally our only PATCHED in Son) who banged himself up after the "perfect year patch offer". THIS DOESN'T MEAN SAFETY GOES OUT THE WINDOW! I threw something else together though. In commemoration to Joshua Clyde's birthday, I began working on a patch that got the essence of both Joshua Clyde (who is now 30) and the SOJ (what we are), and we are a rag tag group of guys (as Greybush used to put it), who recognizes each of us for being the person we are. Clyde, this is the fourth year we have gone and we could easily give out more of what we already have for patches, but this is a special one. I put together the new PiKou patch IT WILL BE OUT ASAP, unfortunately I lost my art software and needed to rig this together w

London, ON...Overseas Student Bucket-list.

London, ON (Canada) is a college/university community with a population of 383, 822 (2016)-thanks wikipedia! London, (from an outsider's perspective) is a haven for students who want to have fun and not much else-sort of a growth off Toronto. At a closer glance, there is much more than meets the first impression hovering around the city for a day. This is where the task comes in. This is a list especially made for one individual very inquisitive and brave. However, if you feel that you or a friend could benefit from the completion of this bucket list, I encourage you to use it and share. Participation in this is obviously voluntary and without waste! There are benefits for anyone participating in this-I promise, but when participating please keep a few things in mind, 1) personal safety; 2) budget allowances; 3) Part 1-Who Am I? 1. Get a picture of every nook and cranny of your university. Post it on social media, advertise it. Post a link to your first mission in the c

"Warriors, Come Out to Play!" (Xi'An Mar.2019)

This was a big weekend for the Dragons from “first-times” to “Busta-Mouland-Rhymes”. The weekend was kicked off with a small competition between rookies of the Dalian Ice Dragons. To recognize a few of the contestants, among the many skills collectively enjoyed in the Dragon’s circle, Crystal Mouland (one of the only female Dragons in flock), demonstrated exceptional wit, but in the end Willie-Rae (Hangzhou West-Laker, Dragon at Heart) had the competition wiped as they dried the tears after the touching poem he wrote about his Dragon’s Cardigan. Following our arrival in Xi’An we began our busy day with a “skills and skate” in which Dragons were working with youngsters to develop understanding of drills and develop some skills. After this, the hockey community leaders of Xi’An brought the game to the Dragons in a 4 on 4 (first to five). With out of townees, JR, Padulla, and Willie Rae, this was an essential beginning to an excellent weekend. Our Dragons exec. was gracious enough to se

To Prospective Dalian Ice Dragons,

Dear fellow human, I am writing to you on behalf of the Dalian Ice Dragons hockey team. We are a group of teachers (generally, a few stowaways) that come together on ever Tuesday night in an ice rink outside of Dalian and enjoy a couple hours of hockey. It is usually the case that not many people know about hockey before moving to China from certain parts of the world, or have their equipment with them (who would have thought you were going to play hockey here, right?). Nonetheless, we have connections and ways of helping you purchase equipment if needed. Transportation is generally easy to work out, we have players in Jinshitan, Kaifaqu and downtown Dalian. We have been a team for nearly 20 years now, or so it seems, we have deep roots in a few hockey communities around China and are also always looking to expand to other countries. Fees are insignificant compared to the amount of Ice Time and Swag you accumulate over time, not to mention the friendships you make. Check out mo

What Are YOU Made of? EBC Trek 2018

Some back story, part of this article was used in my Tripadvisor review of Discovery World Trekking but it is also a bit more opinionated and less to the point than the original piece. I had been talking about hiking to EBC (Everest Base Camp) for the last three years since I realized it was something I wanted to do. I climbed up a few small mountains for fun starting my life as an expat. As a kid I was having fun hiking and wandering around forests-always found them wonderfully mysterious and dark. I also really appreciated the ecosystem within it-observing small animals from a distance and then using the trees and rocks to play out childhood fantasies of fighting goblins, monsters etc.  It came as a bit of a rush task to get to Nepal to say the least. The trek was planned online with Discovery World Trekking. I came across the company through a good friend of mine, Jackie "Chan" and although there were some misunderstandings along the way, it was a remarkable trip non

NEW VPN TIME? WHY NOT ASTRILL? Screw You NORD VPN.

Image
Updates: NordVPN-a year later... A shout out to "VPN Alert" and "Fast VPN Guide"-You suck at your job-find a who jump in it-wait till you stop breathing-then write a review. When a company tries to tell you to do those things above if your VPN server isn't working...oh boy.  Firstly, if a reset of settings is needed-to some extent that's "normal" enough, its not a perfect working piece of software-its breaking laws and evading punishments to save a buck here and there. Secondly, if it tells you that you need to re download the software and try steps 1-3 again-its a matter of them wasting your time. Don't spend money on something that these jokers don't know how to fix themselves. After this long-I have been studying-something I should have done more of in regards to choosing a VPN, but Nord's 30-Day trial (before it was only 7...), was manageable-now though, its just a nightmare. nothing works. They have no working servers NONE! For fol

Papua New Guinea Round 2?

I honestly don't find many sources that say its a good place to vacation. After further discussion with a fella FROM Papua New Guinea-not worth your life-as a white guy (especially a woman), maybe just avoid it. A friend says "Hey man, it wasn't too long ago that my family's ancestors were eating people." ugh. http://www.kirasalak.com/Peru.html missionary work in PNG http://jubalslyre.com/png/ http://www.revivalcentresofpng.org/rcpng-history/ News from "The Guardian" https://www.theguardian.com/world/west-papua Benny Wenda https://www.freewestpapua.org/ Maybe in another life I'll risk my life-I have a son now...
