"Warriors, Come Out to Play!" (Xi'An Mar.2019)

This was a big weekend for the Dragons from “first-times” to “Busta-Mouland-Rhymes”. The weekend was kicked off with a small competition between rookies of the Dalian Ice Dragons. To recognize a few of the contestants, among the many skills collectively enjoyed in the Dragon’s circle, Crystal Mouland (one of the only female Dragons in flock), demonstrated exceptional wit, but in the end Willie-Rae (Hangzhou West-Laker, Dragon at Heart) had the competition wiped as they dried the tears after the touching poem he wrote about his Dragon’s Cardigan. Following our arrival in Xi’An we began our busy day with a “skills and skate” in which Dragons were working with youngsters to develop understanding of drills and develop some skills. After this, the hockey community leaders of Xi’An brought the game to the Dragons in a 4 on 4 (first to five). To Prospective Dalian Ice Dragons,

Dear fellow human, I am writing to you on behalf of the Dalian Ice Dragons hockey team. We are a group of teachers (generally, a few stowaways) that come together on ever Tuesday night in an ice rink outside of Dalian and enjoy a couple hours of hockey. It is usually the case that not many people know about hockey before moving to China from certain parts of the world, or have their equipment with them (who would have thought you were going to play hockey here, right?). Nonetheless, we have connections and ways of helping you purchase equipment if needed. Transportation is generally easy to work out, we have players in Jinshitan, Kaifaqu and downtown Dalian. We have been a team for nearly 20 years now, or so it seems, we have deep roots in a few hockey communities around China and are also always looking to expand to other countries.
