The Convenience of Exporting and Importing Goods
Recently the wife and I took a walk through a shopping mall in downtown Dalian (large city in northeastern China; Liaoning Province). While walking around we came across some small but interesting finds. It was suprising to see coconuts in a VENDING MACHINE in north eastern China; let alone in December/January!
To top it off the coconuts had apparently been ordered in from Thailand. 3 CAD/15 CNY a piece. Heh, interesting. Funny how technology has made certain things really accessible to the everyday shoppers all because of the way that we can transport things and the amount of money spent over all to get things from A to B that may be a lot but over all could make a killing.
Part of the reason I ask this question is because I wonder how or what you have seen or found over your journeys, here are some things I found on mine:
Imported Wines (Wuhan Mall)
Sex Toys(Every other city block in Chinese Cities-not villages;in villages maybe they only have one )
Cigarettes (Jakarta, Tokyo, China)
Imported Beer (Dalian)
Condoms (Canada)
Tissue Paper (China, Canada?)
Fresh Oranges (Dalian)
Live Fish Keychains (not really in a vending machine, more of an arcade game-still crazy!)
I couldn't find all my photos from these phenomenon experiences, but nonetheless here was the trigger :p
